FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

What is your approach to interior decorating and design?
My motivation for being an interior decorator is to help people feel comfortable with their living and work spaces. The decisions involved in creating a new look or updating/changing existing living spaces can be overwhelming. I like to help take the hassle, confusion and uncertainty out of the decorating process. I want people to have a living space that reflects their personal design style, not mine. Many decorators want a space to look a certain way and do not take the time to work with the client to create the look they desire. I take considerable pride in walking away from a decorating project and not have people say, “Oh, that was designed by Bonnie Whitemore.” Your space should reflect you and your style…that is my goal!

What are the steps in decorating?
First, I want to get to know my clients on a personal level. Then, I can talk with them about whether they like one or many styles in their home. Some clients like to bring pictures from magazines or catalogs of things they like. From that point, we can begin to create a style and look that reflects what they want. Once we agree on a plan, then we look together at paint colors, furniture, artwork, lighting and décor that will complete the look and personalized design.

Do you offer many styles and tastes?
Yes. I work with all styles from traditional to contemporary. When redesigning spaces, it is important to have the remodeling or change in decorating blend with existing styles within the home. However, many people don’t realize that you can mix styles within the same room such that you can an antique buffet in the dining room along with a contemporary style table and chairs. Let me help you blend your favorite pieces and incorporate them to create a new and fresh look.

Can you order items not seen in the store?
Absolutely! I have numerous catalogs available from a number of companies that we can use to select just right piece for you and your living space.

What are the common issues customers deal with?
I find that a lot of customers get stuck and have fears about paint color and the arrangement of furniture. Maybe we can work with what you already have instead of thinking that everything needs to be changed.

What is your goal with your customers?
I take considerable pride in the relationships I establish with my clients. I believe this is one of my strengths as a decorator. During the job, I not only change the design of someone’s home but I meet a new friend in the process. I also want customers to love the result and thrilled with what they have and what they buy. Before a customer buys something from my store, I allow them to take the piece home and try it out in their space before purchasing it. If they don’t like it, they can bring it back. I want customers to love it when they own it. I also ask customers to be patient with the decorating process because it takes time to create a new look that they will enjoy.

If you could describe your business in one or two sentences, what would you say?
Let’s work together to create a living or work space the way you want it and turn a house into a home.

What are the new trends if home design?
There are lots of new trends in design but I encourage a customer to stick with what you love as the main core of your design and use accent pieces to reflect the new trends in design.
